Oil companies in Nigeria, have been directed by the Federal Government
to relocate their headquarters to Niger-Delta. This directive was given
by Nigeria's acting President, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo, at a Town Hall
meeting in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Thursday, during the continuation of
his visit to oil-rich region to dialogue with stakeholders.
It is expected that this will help bring peace to the Niger-Delta region, as the Minister of State, Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, has been directed to begin the process of engaging the
International Oil Companies on the way forward to actualize the directive, saying “I think it is the right thing to do.”
According to Vanguard, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu also disclosed that his ministry will be working hand in hand with illegal refineries to achieve the desired result.
