EFCC Releases Obanikoro

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has released from custody the former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, eighteen days after arresting him.
He was released on Friday evening at about 5pm, after meeting his bail conditions which include providing two federal directors as sureties and depositing his Nigerian and American passports at the EFCC.
As part of the conditions, Obanikoro was said to have returned N100 million out of the N4.7 billion he allegedly received through the Office of the National Security Adviser in 2014 and promised to return additional N480 million.
Reports had it that, the ex-minister allegedly took N785 million for himself out of the N4.7 billion, and disbursed the rest to Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State and Senator Iyiola Omisore who was the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State in 2014.
